Goodbye 2010

Video Song: "We No Speak Americano" - Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys,
My Christmas was pretty low key, my family and I went to midnight mass and then spent some loving quality time with one another. Unfortunately Rob Kardashian was NOT underneath my Christmas tree :’(.   But It’s cool, I know I’m going to meet him in the near future =) lol just watch and see….

Anyway..
Blast from the past
I can’t believe that this is our last blog of the year, it went by so fast. I hope you guys enjoyed that blooper video we did for you (Yes, I know we are dorks! lol). Looking back at the videos seriously made me smile from ear to ear & laugh to tears :'D its so great that we are able to capture our moments within our careers and be able to press the rewind button to see how far we've came from. You guys are witnessing history in the making ;) This time of year is so bittersweet for me. I'm thankful for all the incredible people I met and special memories I’ve gained in 2010 - especially the birth of SCENE STEALERS - but at the same time I’m ready to move forward and see what twist and turns my life will take….

Ahhhh I’m so excited for the year to come =)!

One of our first events that we will have in store for you guys will be our very 1st Networking/Launch party!! This will take place on 1/11/11. Half of the Proceeds will go to Make-a-Wish Foundation. Since we are all about making dreams come true we thought it would be perfect to do a mini fundraiser with Make-A-Wish Foundation; Make-A-Wish Foundation has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The event is also celebration of our new Scene Stealers look and all the awesome things we have in store! We hope to see our readers and supporters there!

So as we are leaving the year of the tiger (2010) and entering the year of the rabbit (2011), I have a couple of resolutions that I would like to make:

1)    Putting an end to my procrastination
2)    Eating Healthier
3)    Exercising
4)    Moving out!!!
5)    & meet a REAL MAN (no more games)

So do you know what Zodiac animal your birth year is & what it means ?!?

well here it is ...

RAT: 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008 - People born in the Year of the Rat are noted for their charm and attraction for the opposite sex. They work hard to achieve their goals, acquire possessions, and are likely to be perfectionists. They are basically thrifty with money. Rat people are easily angered and love to gossip. Their ambitions are big, and they are usually very successful. They are most compatible with people born in the years of the Dragon, Monkey, and Ox.

OX:1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009 - People born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people.
Tiger: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010- Tiger people are sensitive, given to deep thinking, capable of great sympathy. They can be extremely short-tempered, however. Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. sometimes Tiger people cannot make up their minds, which can result in a poor, hasty decision or a sound decision arrived at too late. They are suspicious of others, but they are courageous and powerful. Tigers are most compatible with Horses, Dragons, and Dogs
Rabbit: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011- People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.
Dragon: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000- People born in the Year of the Dragon are healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn. They are also honest, sensitive, brave, and they inspire confidence and trust. Dragon people are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac. They neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches, but they tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them. They are compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys, and Roosters.
Snake: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001- People born in the Year of the Snake are deep. They say little and possess great wisdom. They never have to worry about money; they are financially fortunate. Snake people are often quite vain, selfish, and a bit stingy. Yet they have tremendous sympathy for others and try to help those less fortunate. Snake people tend to overdo, since they have doubts about other people's judgment and prefer to rely on themselves. They are determined in whatever they do and hate to fail. Although calm on the surface, they are intense and passionate. Snake people are usually good-looking and sometimes have marital problems because they are fickle. They are most compatible with the Ox and Rooster.
Horse: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002- People born in the Year of the Horse are popular. They are cheerful, skillful with money, and perceptive, although they sometimes talk too much. The are wise, talented, good with their hands, and sometimes have a weakness for members of the opposite sex. They are impatient and hot-blooded about everything except their daily work. They like entertainment and large crowds. They are very independent and rarely listen to advice. They are most compatible with Tigers, Dogs, and Sheep.
Ram: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2000- People born in the Year of Ram are elegant and highly accomplished in the arts. They seem to be, at first glance, better off than those born in the zodiac's other years. But ram year people are often shy, pessimistic, and puzzled about life. They are usually deeply religious, yet timid by nature. Sometimes clumsy in speech, they are always passionate about what they do and what they believe in. Ram people never have to worry about having the best in life for their abilities make money for them, and they are able to enjoy the creature comforts that they like. Ram people are wise, gentle, and compassionate. They are compatible with Rabbits, Pigs, and Horses.
Monkey: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004- People born in the Year of the Monkey are the erratic geniuses of the cycle. Clever, skillful, and flexible, they are remarkably inventive and original and can solve the most difficult problems with ease. There are few fields in which Monkey people wouldn't be successful but they have a disconcerting habit of being too agreeable. They want to do things now, and if they cannot get started immediately, they become discouraged and sometimes leave their projects. Although good at making decisions, they tend to look down on others. Having common sense, Monkey people have a deep desire for knowledge and have excellent memories. Monkey people are strong willed but their anger cools quickly. They are most compatible with the Dragon and Rat.
Rooster: 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005- People born in the Year of the Rooster are deep thinkers, capable, and talented. They like to be busy and are devoted beyond their capabilities and are deeply disappointed if they fail. People born in the Rooster Year are often a bit eccentric, and often have rather difficult relationship with others. They always think they are right and usually are! They frequently are loners and though they give the outward impression of being adventurous, they are timid. Rooster people¡¦s emotions like their fortunes, swing very high to very low. They can be selfish and too outspoken, but are always interesting and can be extremely brave. They are most compatible with Ox, Snake, and Dragon.
Dog: 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006- People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other people¡¦s confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit

Pig: 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007- People born in the Year of the Pig are chivalrous and gallant. Whatever they do, they do with all their strength. For Boar Year people, there is no left or right and there is no retreat. They have tremendous fortitude and great honesty. They don't make many friends but they make them for life, and anyone having a Boar Year friend is fortunate for they are extremely loyal. They don't talk much but have a great thirst for knowledge. They study a great deal and are generally well informed. Boar people are quick tempered, yet they hate arguments and quarreling. They are kind to their loved ones. No matter how bad problems seem to be, Boar people try to work them out, honestly if sometimes impulsively. They are most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.
Ok well that's all from me love you all & god bless ... reach for the stars! Remember even tho time flies, you're still the pilot.. so take full control of your path that will eventually lead to YOUR destination <3

HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE; DREAM BIG!

xo, Samantha

What's Up!

The Ramirez Christmas Tree
This past Christmas weekend was great.  Thursday, I had holiday dinner with my glamorous chapter, Delta Kappa.  Then the rest of the weekend, I spent a lot of quality time with my immediate family, since we really don't have much family in the tri-state area.  Unfortunately, my brother had to work a majority of Christmas Eve and Christmas day...so our celebrations were delayed, but once he was home my mom brought out the pernil with arroz con gandules, my dad brought out the drinks and then we exchanged our gifts to each other. I got a lot of shoes and clothes...and well you know how I was complaining about how I had no form of real entertainment in my room besides a stereo...well here was my parents' solution...a projector (lol).  Sounds weird, but it works! I've got a make-shift theatre in my room now.  I've got the projector hooked up to a DVD player and now I can watch movies in the comfort of my own room...instead of fighting over a remote with my brother in the living room (lol).

The Blizzard
The rest of the weekend we spent watching movies and lots of TV, due mostly in part to the blizzard that struck Sunday night.  After while though, being at home took its toll and I started feeling like I had cabin fever (lol)...I hadn't left my house since Friday (::can't watch face::). All this time at home did have me thinking a lot thought, about the new year a such.  So I had an opportunity to to figure out some of my new years resolutions/goals.

Here they go...

1. Find an alternative or additional income source and

2. Move out on my own.

3. Seriously, try to be less sarcastic and more friendly to people.

I've also developed some new attitudes about life, relationships and such that I really plan to stick to in the new year.

Here that goes (lol): I will no longer wait on the sidelines for an opportunity to showcase what an amazing teammate I can be...I want in the game!! I'm either in the game or I'll have no problem becoming a free agent, looking for a new team.

Anyways, 2010 has been a blast - full of wonderful memories, awesome opportunities, great people and important lessons.  I'm definitely looking forward to what 2011 has in store!!
So with that, I want to wish all of you a very happy new year! Thank you for all our support and your continued readership...I promise that Scene Stealers will only get better!!

Good Music, Good Food & Good Company...Happy Holidays!

Video Song: "Night by Night" - Chromeo
____________________________________________________________

Hey Guys,

I hope you all did your Christmas shopping and didn’t wait LAST minute like I did -_______-. I had no time with everything that’s going on. Nonetheless this week was short but still pretty eventful.

We are currently working with Chef Frank Maldonado the executive chef of Sazon Restaurant. Personally I’m THRILLED with this opportunity, because I love him!! He always takes care of me with not only delish meals but with unbelievable words of encouragement when it comes to …LIFE. Part of me doing what I do is to see others happy... I love helping out a dream & sure enough Chef Frank’s touching his dreams one by one. I booked him a couple of interviews to promote his appearance on Food Network’s “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” Empanada style. They aired his “Throwdown” on Wednesday December 22! Jess and I along with our “wolfpack” went to the Puerto Rican Restaurants for the Viewing party. It was a great time celebrating his debut on a huge network. He actually loses :/ but there are rumors that it was fixed. Anywho, If you guys missed it, tune in on Christmas Day at 7pm he will be on again… I’m telling you, you will FALL IN LOVE with his incredible personality and of course the Empanadas!!

Amongst the crowd was our Boss Jorge Cano-Moreno, Singer Zeitlin Perez and Joshua Torrez omg! You guys have to check him out!!! I’m telling you click here to read more about him. This artist is incredible, he is so young and talented but has an old but wise soul that transfers into his songs. His music takes me way back … way before my time .. like Al Green time. Jess and I went to R bar to check his performance out on Tuesday and when he went on stage he had the ability to command EVERYONES attention in a matter of seconds, leaving everyone astonished - His performance literally gave me goosebumps! Torrez recently debut his solo acoustic album titled “The Cuts”-- It’s actually not digitally corrected, meaning it’s untouched, just pure good music! You can find it on Urban Latino.

So remember the lavishing pink makeup party we covered a couple of blogs ago?.... Well we just got word that the first stop on the Ayari Makeup Tour will be February 26, 2011 in New York City! Check this out --Ladies I’m telling you, you its worth it.

Ok guys thats all from me!! also keep in mind that positive energy (Family, Friends ect), laughter & love… is all you need to be complete. Fortunately I can say I have that, to me thats the best present in the world =)

Merry Christmas to you all !

P.S- Congrats to my lovely Linesister Heather for giving birth to a beautiful little princess, Alexis Andrea Arechiga! She is toooooo precious. To think we were all once that little before <3 Cheers to new beginnings.

Oh & my song of the week... Santa Baby- Marilyn Monroe...  "I been an awful good girl so hurry down the chimmney tonight" ;)

__________

What's Up!

It's almost Christmas time and to get us in the holiday spirit, we spent this week listening to good music, eating tasty food and spending our time with awesome company =)

Joshua Torrez
It all started Tuesday night at R Bar with a live performance from Joshua Torrez. Hailing from Chicago, Joshua Torrez has just recently started his career and has already left his imprint in the world. While he graduated with a BFA in Fine Art with a focus on acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University, Joshua has never neglected his other passion - music. Since he didn't really know how to go about starting a music career, he went out into the street with a hat at his feet and started singing songs he enjoyed, while once in awhile throwing in his own. That's how he got recognized...how crazy is that! A man by the name of Timur approached him, became his manager...and voilà! he was doing 3 hour set at a local bar.  Since then Joshua has been performing live music at various venues.

His performance with his band on Tuesday was awesome. Everyone was swaying to his music and even asked for an encore when his set was over. His style of music reminds me of Bruno Mars but bluesier. To check out his music, visit his website JoshuaTorrez.com and catch him live at various venues in NYC.  You can also listen to him as part of the newly formed collective Art For Money with Omar Davis "CrashPlanet" (vocalist/guitarist), Zeitlin Perez (vocalist), Jesse Pantoja (percussionist) and producers Momar Clemons and Ramon Silva. They'll be at Creole on January 20th and then at Sazon on January 25th.

The "Pack"
Wednesday night Samantha and I, along with our "pack" (lol) held our holiday dinner and secret Santa gift exchange at Sazon.  While we were there we caught the premiere of Sazon's executive chef, Chef Frank Maldonado's appearance on Food Network's "Throwdown with Bobby Flay!".  In the episode, Bobby Flay challenged Chef Frank to an empanada duel.  It was great to see Chef Frank doing his thing in the kitchen - he has such a passion for food!  Unfortunately, Bobby Flay's version of the Puerto Rican staple won over the judges...but Chef Frank's empanadas are delicious (he treated his viewing party attendees to his mouthwatering treats)!

We had a great dinner and very...entertaining conversations (lol).  Afterwards, we headed to R Bar once again for "Beats & Brands Holiday Party & Sample Sale" hosted by Nina Sky, MadeMe and NastyOnes. Nicole got behind the DJ booth to provide the tunes, Belvedere Vodka supplied the drinks and brands: MadeMe, Legendary Damon, Kerin Rose, Cubannie Links, Endless Noise, Funky Fannys and Kweens Destroy delivered the fashion. The atmosphere was very funky and creative...an overall great end to the night.

Well there's my recap of the week...I have to get out of here now to finish my Christmas shopping (::bbm can't watch face::)! I'm so dreading it since I know all the shopping centers and stores will be a complete zoo...smh, but I only have two more people on my list and Christmas Eve is tomorrow!

Alexis Andrea =)
So with that...may your Christmas sparkle with moments of love, laughter and goodwill! Merry Christmas everyone...be sure to have fun and spend it with all your loved ones!!

P.S. I want to congratulate my lovely linesister Heather and her husband Sergio on their gorgeous baby girl, Alexis Andrea. The little princess was born December 18th at 12:40am at 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 inches.  <3

"I'ma movement by myself, BUT I'ma FORCE When WE're TOGETHER..."

Video Song: "Nothing On You (DJ Rob Dinero Remix)" - B.o.B. ft. Bruno Mars
__________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys,

Jess & I booked our venue for our FIRST Networking/Blog Launch Party that will take place on 1/11/11 – we will be donating half of our proceeds to the Make-a-Wish Foundation! Stay tuned for more information. This will def be an event you don’t want to miss! So make sure you save the DATE!

Ok So…

December 12th was the music video release of  Supanova’s "Doce De Diciembre", which was directed by Johnny Rose and marks the beginning of my acting career :p (lol). I was very anxious to see the finish project & I am thrilled with the result. Its up to over a 1,000 views on youtube in less then two days - that’s pretty impressive for an independent artist. Supanova (Austine Martinez) started his singing career as a backup singer with his father- Dominican salsa legend - Raulin Rosendo. So there’s no doubt that that musical talent runs through his veins. Supanova and Johnny Rose also collaborated on the latin remix of “Hold Yuh” (originally performed by Gyptian). You should take a look at that one too, its one of my FAVES!

If you haven’t seen the “Doce De Diciembre” video click here and let me know what you think =)A BIG THANK YOU & HUG for everyone who supported the song and video. Please continue the love, so it can air on MTV Tr3s and Mun2!!

Here's my quick little Q&A with SupaNova

How do you describe your music to people? I honestly have no set definition to describe my music because I don't like to label my music..but I can tell you that it will always have urban elements to it.

Is Doce De Diciembre based on a true experince? It honestly was not from a personal experience, but when I wrote the song along with my brother, we wanted to do a love song that had a NYC feel to it with some latin urban flavor...

Did you come up with the storyline? and if so did it come out the way you wanted it to? The storyline was the idea of the director Johnny Rose. He thought it would be interesting if we did a video where he plot suddenly turns near the end. It actually made the message of the song that much more powerful!

Why did you pick Johnny Rose to direct your last two videos? He's been a friend and a supporter from the beginning of my career and it only made sense that I worked with him...He actually came to me and said "Yo we are doing the video..like tomorrow!"

And lastly but not least did you enjoy kissing me ;)? lol You were such a good sport and a professional at the video shoot. You withstood very cold weather, long hours, and lots of traveling around the city..and the kiss was indeed enjoyable..but what was most enjoyable was how down to earth and easy she made the video shoot. We had great chemistry at the shoot! --- Nice to hear ;) lol

--------

Here’s some one on one time with Director Johnny Rose, who’s known for directing music videos for both ‘up and coming’ and ‘established’ urban artists! (He recently just did Ricky Blaze’s Music Video “Just You and I”)

What's your personal opinion of "Doce De Dicembre"'s video - did it come out the way you planned it? It actually came out a 'lil better than I expected. Nova gave a strong acting performance as well as you. There was a chemistry there that I did not expect. You both rocked.

How do you prepare to direct a music video? I start of by listening to the track as much as I could to try and come up wit a concept then visualize it. After that then we scout locations and plan to shoot.

What does it take to get your final seal of approval on a music video you directed? I am first and foremost a fan of music. So the video has to make my eyes feel the music the way music make my ears feel. (If that makes any sense) LOL!

What's your view on music videos today? A lot of great creative stuff is being done.

Make sure you check out johnnyrosefilms.com. It was great working with these amazing, self-driven, professional & talented men. Thank you Raul (Supanova's bro) for selecting me! Love ya xoxox

Oh one more thing....

SCENE STEALERS is going to undergo a makeover! speaking of a whole new look.... I have a couple of pics that I need help on determining my new look for the new year.

Here are my options:

CHOICE 1 - blondie
CHOICE 2 - brownish/blondish bob

CHOICE 3 - Dark Bob

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK!?!? COMMENT PLEASE LOL

What's Up!

Drinks at our holiday party
With the holidays fast approaching, of course we had our own celebration here at Urban Latino!  This year our holiday party took place at Don Coqui (which is owned by Jimmy Rodriguez) in New Rochelle.  We had a great time discussing with our co-workers and friends all of our accomplishments this year and our goals for next year. 2011 will definitely be a great year not only for Urban Latino, but for Scene Stealers too!!  Samantha and I have so many things that we want to accomplish and better believe we have the drive to do it...so watch out for us!!

That same night (12/8) we went to celebrity hot spot Covet. We had an awesome time with our linesister Christina and co-worker Angela.  We even bumped into Brandy again...with her boo Terrance J.
My Sigma LSs (Tati & Nati) w/ me & some of DK
Friday night, I headed to Le Neve's Restaurant and Banquet Hall for to celebrate Lambda Theta Alpha - Sigma Chapter's (William Patterson University) 17th Anniversary.  It was a great night full of memories and a celebration of all the achievements Sigma has made throughout the years. It was definitely awesome to see the founding sisters of the chapter there...being a founder myself, I know it'll mean a lot to me to come back to St. John's University after 17 years to see all the great things my chapter has brought to campus. It was a wonderful night, my date was a good sport (lol), music was fun and the food delicious.

So at this point in my weekend, I started getting sick...but do you think that stopped me? NO -__-. I couldn't take it in my house any longer and had to go out.  Its not that my house is a horrible place to be or even that my family was getting on my nerves...its that I honestly have no form of entertainment in my room other than a stereo.  Yes, thats right...I have no laptop (sadly it passed, may it RIP), no gaming systems and no television in my room.  So quite frankly I no other choice then to either sleep or go out (lol). That night I went to Retreat with Christina, for her co-worker's birthday.  The lounge is small but plays great music! I even got hit on my a promoter there...very unsuccessfully I may add (lol).

Sunday I got up bright and early to get some business done and spend some quality time with my chapter, Delta Kappa at St. John's. After that my linesisters Christi, Samantha and I went to Hooters for some wings, beer and football!  Not a bad way to spend a Sunday (lol).

Anyway, as you can tell in our video, Samantha and I just realized that Christmas is next week ::bbm can't watch face:: I have done absolutely no shopping (smh), but I found this great site to help me with my very last minute shopping. Check it out gifts.com.  It's super helpful because you can search for gift ideas based on personalities and age...and there's even some really cool stuff that I would never have thought of.

After Christmas, comes New Years (oh boy).  I can't wait for the new year!!! I want to do something different with my look...starting with my hair.  My hair is super long right now (at least I think so) and I'm thinking I'm going to cut it...like drastically (lol).  Samantha and I found this site, where you can upload a picture of yourself and generate new hair styles and etc.  Check out my looks and let me know which one's you think look best on me!! Your help is greatly appreciated (lol)!

Option 1
Option 2

Option 3

Well that's all for now...we have some cool stuff for you next week and maybe an announcement or two...so look out for it!  Have a great weekend =)
Maryam (co-worker & chapter sister) & I

"Ayari Makeup Tour Launch Party" -> The Recap

Video Song: "Glamorous" Fergie ft. Ludacris
______________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys!

So I was officially in HEAVEN on Thursday, DECEMBER 2, 2010 lol – Jess and I attended the Ayari Makeup Tour Launch party at Pearl Lounge!  You know, the one that we’ve been amped and bragging about all this time lol…Well, The time finally came and I was ecstatic! This exclusive FABULOUS evening was sponsored by Nuvo Sparkling Liqueur and Loca Entertainment.

Here’s the RECAP:

For months, Jessica 'Ayari' and her team planned this glamorous make up tour educating women on the importance of looking and feeling exquisite! This party was the kick off to the beginning of Ayari’s Journey! It wasn’t just another launch party, it was more like a revelation in beauty care. The attendees were greeted by Nuvo drinks and approached by the Ayari team where they would be guided to different beauty stations to get some well deserved pampering.

We had Mini-makeovers by the Ayari’s Makeover Team using the organic cosmetic, Artistry. Then we released some stress and tension by receiving a marvelous Massage!

The VIPs were treated to some lavishing lashes provided by JJ Eyelashes and Brow Shaping by  Quick Brow zone =)They even had a Manicure section provided by Blush Nail Lounge (we couldn’t get our nails done because of time - so I was a little bummed about that:/).

Oh & There were sweets galore -- definitely fit the motif! The Cake was my favorite along with the homemade Fortune Cookies that her Sorority sisters made! I loved how the fortune cookies had cute fashion tips/facts when you opened it! Definitely unique/creative!

How cool is this cake!?

Jessica "Ayari" Toro --  She’s done promo events for Cover Girl, Maybelline and L'Oreal PRO. She also worked with Ludacris, Trina, Mya, Hurricane Chris, Latoya Luckette, BET, MY9, LOreal, Maybelline, Stewart Weitzman, Maggie Norris, Keith Lissner of Project Runway, Sandhurst Miggins of Bravos Make Me a Supermodel, Claire Unabia of Americas Next Top Model, and much more! Now she is bringing her talent to YOU!

SO KEEP ON A LOOK OUT LADIES ;)

Check out our Q&A with AYARI!

Us with Jessica 'Ayari' Toro
What were some of your inspirations in creating Ayari makeup tour? Ever go out and see a girl who thinks she looks good but she really looks like a drag queen?  Or maybe you have so much makeup or skin creams at home that you just don’t know what to do with it all and how to use them?  That’s where my tour comes in.  We can help with these types of issues.

I began receiving many individual requests for one-on-one makeup lessons last year.  And so I decided to perform mini-makeup workshop lessons in NYC and on college campuses.  They were pretty successful, and it made me think about conducting them on a larger scale.  Rather than targeting college students, for the tour, I want to reach out to real professional women.  The tour this time around will comprise of both a makeup lesson and a skin care education session as well.

So, in the end, I want to help that woman who thinks she looks oh-so-good at the club but slapped on way too much makeup that was just not complimenting to her skin and face.  My workshops will be her savior.  Our tour is like a rescue mission!

Can you elaborate on what to expect on your tour? I want women to be more educated on how to care for their skin.  As a makeup artist, I can tell you that caring for your skin is extremely important before applying all those makeup chemicals and particles to your face.  And skin care regimens are a huge trend right now.  I thought it would be helpful to lend my at-home tips and tricks without having to spend a fortune at spas or treatment centers.  I actually inserted them into the fortune cookies at my launch party.  And with skin cancer on the rise, our skin care lesson can teach women how to take better care of their face from all the harmful components we are all exposed to.

The makeup portion will discuss the different types of makeup looks for a specific event (work/day or party/evening) and the different techniques for all different eye shapes.  We will also go into the 4 looks I like to call “Clean Seventeen,” “The J Lo Glow,” “Red Carpet Glam,” and “The Smokey Chick.”

I will also show some yucky – and hopefully – inspiring photos on why you should NEVER go to bed without washing your face!

Where are you guys visiting and how long will this tour last? The tour will last a full year with our first stop in NYC on Saturday, February 26, 2011.  We are currently focusing on cities within NY and NJ for now.  We will then move into Long Island, Westchester, and Jersey City.  Outside of these areas depends on how many requests we get from other states.  We have already received inquiries from DC and North Carolina, so that may be two possible stops.

How many Ayari Team members are there and what does it take to be part of this unique team? The Ayari’s Makeovers, Inc. team is definitely composed of unique individuals who I have known for some time now.  I have Josie Brito, our events Specialist who helps with the planning of the tour stops and executing the promotional parties, like my previous Launch Party.  Then there’s Tatiana Fernandez and Lisa Perez who are the Account Managers in charge of booking tour stops.  Tati is in charge of NJ cities and Lisa focuses on NY.  Should someone outside of the cities I mentioned earlier want our tour to come to her city, she would contact the respective Account Manager and they take it from there.  We have Daphne Knott who has helped us tremendously with PR for our Launch Party and we are looking for a PR Specialist to help us overall with our tour.

Then we have my makeup team, Kristin Sepulveda, Adhari Fullman, and Kerryann Pozzi who are all makeup artists (they conducted the mini makeovers at my Launch Party) and will be at the tour stops helping me with the makeup education portion of the workshops.  They are also part of my bridal team, www.AyariBrides.com, a division of Ayari’s Makeovers, Inc., which is a full service bridal hair and makeup team.

What was your personal opinion of the launch party? I am very happy to say that my Launch Party was definitely a hit with the ladies…and men!  Who wouldn’t want to be pampered with manicures, makeovers, massages, drinks and more for just $30!  We all know outside of the party, we would be spending a fortune for all of the services rendered.  The party was an effort to promote my tour and expose professional women to my brand and my tour idea.  Hopefully that message got across.  I have received a number of emails asking about the next event.  But you will all have to stay tuned.  We have some great ideas up our sleeves for 2011.  I am also very grateful to have had all my vendors and media sponsors on board.

I know your makeup team was using Artistry, and there were tons of cool L'Oreal products in our giftbags as well... what brand do you recommend the most and why? I’m sure people expect me to say MAC – which I love (especially their gel liner, Fluidline in Blacktrack).  But I don’t really stick to just one brand.  My makeup kit is full of all makeup that I have personally tried on myself and I was pleased with its results.  I am a huge fan of L’Oreal’s H.I.P. eye shadows and Voluminous Mascara in Blackest Black by L’Oreal Paris.  My favorite brand currently is Makeup Forever.  They have the best contouring palette I love to use on my photo shoots and brides.  And OCC lip tars are incredible!  I always use the Mary Kay’s Signature Eye Primer before applying eye shadow, to prevent it from creasing and ensuring the shadow will last longer.

So there’s really not one brand I would just recommend.  I would say go to the counters, play with the makeup, and see what you like.  Throughout my years as a makeup artist, I have found my favorite brands in respect to certain products that are best for specific purposes.  I have found what was best for me and my clients.  I also have a great hydrator by Mary Kay and a mist spray I use by Evian.  I don’t think I have ever found a better moisturizer than Embryolisse.

Whats a good beauty advice that you can give our readers for this winter? SPF!  I know, you’re thinking, “But summer’s over.”  That’s true.  But the winter – especially snow – can be just as harmful as the sun.  Actually, it’s 2.5 times more harmful than the beach!  When snow is on the ground, the UV rays from the sun bounce off the snow and are attracted to your face.  Pretty much the same concept when you are near a beach or pool.  Your eyes are also subject to more harm from the UV rays in the snow so wearing shades during the day or goggles when skiing would be smart.  My tour will ensure that all of my attendees are sensitized to these skin care harms.

What's up

Jessica "Ayari"
We've been mentioning this event for weeks and the day finally came -- Ayari's Makeup Tour Launch Party! We're so happy to have been part of this event as media sponsors and contributors to the gift bags.

The event took place this past Thursday (12/2) at Pearl Lounge in NYC.  The event was by far the girliest event I have ever been to, but I enjoyed myself.  It was great to get pampered for a few hours, especially after a long day at work!

Samantha and I started the night off with, of course, the signature pink cocktails during the open bar provided by Nuvo Sparkling Liqueur.  My favorite cocktail was the Nuvo Mimosa, which is just Nuvo served over ice with a splash of pineapple.  After getting our drink on, we headed to the makeup station.  Kristin Sepulveda was the makeup artist that gave me my mini makeover and she was absolutely awesome.  As she applied the makeup and gave me a brief description of each of the Artistry products she used and tips on how to use them in the future.

Pink Chocolate Fondue & other sweets!
As we waited for our turn at the massage station, we picked up some delicious hors d'ourves provided by La Cocina Taina.  The massage was amazing!  Licensed massage therapist (and certified pilates instructor), Sarah Jayne Fried really made me feel so relaxed. From there we walked around checking out the different stations, lash extensions (provided by JJ Eyelashes) and eyebrow threading/waxing (provided by Brows Zone), while picking up yummy desserts  and quenching our thirst with some pink colored Vitaman Water.

We stopped at the henna station (provided also by the Brows Zone) and got some tattoos.  We didn't get a chance to get any manicures (provided by Blush Nail Lounge), but they looked like they were doing a lovely job.

After leaving the launch party, we received gift bags full of goodies, great cosmetics from L'Oreal, a t-shirt from Wildboy Clothing (my favorite thing in the bag!), some samples from Artistry Skin Care and makeup line, 2 bottles of RelaxZen, a nail kit from Nail Fraud and copies of Vibe and Urban Latino Magazines.
After my mini makeover

Samantha and I, overall, had a wonderful time. Thank you,  Jessica "Ayari" Toro for the invite and congratulations on the launch of the Ayari Makeup Tour! We can't wait to find out your tour stops, we'll definitely be there to support!

Song of the Week: "Supermodel" - Jill Sobule (lmao, I had to! I'm sorry I normally don't listen to music like this, but it goes so well with the theme of this week's blog)
