Dream in Color...

Video Song: "Take Over Control" - Afro-Jack ft. Eva Simmons
______________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys,

I hope every one had a lovely Easter =)

Jessica and I had the privilege to attend the Fall 2011 Victoria’s Secret Collection. It was fabbb!! We got picked up by a black stretch limo and drove off to our destination. This event was an exclusive sneak peak for what the ladies will be expecting for this fall…one word…HOT!  Everything in this line brought me to an exotic place. The makeup was very radiant and the scents were extremely pleasant, flirty & sultry ;)…the packaging was very editorial as well. The VS team actually traveled to Morocco for a week to get inspiration. They looked into the colors of nature, the architecture, and the lifestyle to produce this look. I must say they did a fabulous job conveying that image.

They had MINI MAKEOVERS, so of course Jessica and I took advantage of it and got dolled up!

Introducing VS Hypnotic Beauty:

Deluxe Eye Palette - Five luminous shadows come together in one sexy palette to create all the eye looks you can dream of. It will create that hypnotic, mesmerizing look. Colors: Gypset (plum) and Mirage (blue).
Tip: When you combine metallic colors don’t be afraid to mix it up with a blue or green, you will get that earthly/exotic look.

Perfect Lipstick - This lipstick has a rich creamy formula that will drench your lips on full- coverage color and sheen. Colors: Whisper (nude) and Exotica (burnt sienna)
Tip: If you are doing a blue in your eye, keep it subtle with the lips. If there is not much eye action, go for that exotic color!!

Luminous Blush/High Lighter - The blush and gorgeous highlights will create that perfect combination of radiant color (perfect for a night out). It will make your skin glow like a desert sunset.
Tip: Do not OD with it!! Apply where you believe needs to be highlighted (cheek bones, eye lids and even lips)

Kajal Liner- I LOVEEE EYE LINER! This will give you that ultimate smudged-smokey eye look (think Kim Kardashian). The creamy Kohl liner was inspired by an ancient beauty ritual in Morocco.
Tip: Ahhh, the smoky eye. The key here is to blend well. Also, make sure to keep all other makeup light or you risk looking overdone. You don't want the rest of your makeup to compete with your eyes.

I was so thrilled with the goodie bag, even though it is a fall collection I feel like you can use it all year around! They will be available for a limited time starting September 2011, exclusively at Victoria’s Secret stores and VictoriaSecret.com. Check out Jessica’s blog for the insider of the Fall 2011 scents that will drive you and your lover crazyyyy!!!

So after getting glamorous and smelling delicious we took the limo to our second stop…Baruch College! State Farm & LatinTRENDS presented The Third Annual Iconomy Expo. They had seminars on business, career, tech, media, finance and marketing to the Hispanic consumer. It was free to the public. They had prominent business leaders, entrepreneurs and key industry influencers as part of the various panels. Attending this was like a breath of fresh air. It motivated us to hear the stories of successful entrepreneurs - it was hands-down, a rewarding and insightful experience. Here are some tips that I will leave you with:
  • Take risks
  • Take ownership of your career
  • Never be in awe to authority
  • It’s about WHO you know & WHAT you know – So network and do your research!
  • Be unreasonable (Become empowered by your own circumstances)
  • Reinvent yourself - business projects may fail…but you won’t
  • Failure: FEAR = FAKE. Yup, fear is not real, its an emotion that will stop you from your dreams. Its all in your mind so you have the power to switch everything around!
  • Declaration - Listen to your mind and speak up...once you say it and believe, it will happen.
Always dream in color…

My song of the week...this girl is amazing and not to mention 22!!!  Adele - "Rolling in the Deep" (remix)

xo, Samantha

________

What's Up

We started off the week in style!  We received exclusive car service (in a stretched limo!) to attend the launch event of Victoria's Secret Fall 2011 Beauty Collection located at the Ramscale Studios

This Fall's limited edition collection is all about Morocco. Think sensual days, sultry night, hypnotic temptations, and exotic adventures! Samantha and I both received mini-makeovers using their new VS Hypnotic Beauty collection. Then the VP of marketing then gave us a short introduction to the new Moroccan-inspired collections. Immediately following, we got to test some of those products and scents.

Let me introduced you to the VS Fantasies Exotics collection...a sexy oasis!  This sexy, limited edition collection of captivating scents was inspired by the hypnotic beauty of a luxe oasis. There are three seductive fragrances - the juicy Tempting Berry, the radiant Moonlit Jasmine and the warm Seductive Amber. Each of the fragrances are available in a fragrance mist (infused with conditioning aloe vera and chamomile), a hydrating body lotion (containing aloe, oat and grapeseed extract along with antioxidant vitamins E and C), a ultra-moisturizing hand and body cream (with avocado, sweet almond oils plus honey) and lastly a daily body wash (featuring aloe vera and antioxidant vitamin E). Now the fragrances are super unique and sexy...my favorite the Tempting Berry is a luminous blend of lotus flower and apple, the Moonlit Jasmine contains lush jasmine (of course) and vanilla wood and the Seductive Amber features orchids and luxurious amber.

We continued our journey into the exotic with the Temptation Collection of sexy, captivating scents. The Temptation Collection offers a sensual, enticing spin on each of Victoria's Secret fragrances - Victoria's Secret Bombshell, Dream Angels Heavenly, Very Sexy and Noir Tease - that suit the decadent vibe of the Fall season.  What's great about this collection is the luxe, gypsy-inspired jewel tones, opulent metallics and tassel of the packaging.  This collection is available in a Eau De Parfum, Body Mist and Rich Moisture Lotion (infused with shea-butter).  Each fragrance holds the essence of the original but adds an irresistible exotic blend.  Victoria's Secret Bombshell Temptation is jam packed with pink passion fruit, honeysuckle and blonde woods.  The romantic Dream Angels Heavenly Temptation is a blend of apple, jasmine and vanilla.  Very Sexy Temptation keeps it seductive with nectarine, day lily and amber. Lastly...and my favorite...the Noir Tease Temptation is a flirty fusion of raspberry, blackberry and sandalwood.

Be sure to checkout this adventurous collection hitting a Victoria's Secret near you (and via the website) for only a limited time August to October of 2011! I'm a definite fan.

Smelling fabulous, we headed to the Third Annual iConomy Expo at the William & Anita Newman Conference Center of Baruch College (which was presented by State Farm and LatinTrends). The expo was created by LatinTrends in response to the need for focused information to help progressive men and women learn, grow, get connected and keep moving (the theme of this year's expo).  The expo featured moderated panel discussion and seminar on topics like marketing, career development, media, business, finance and tech.

It was a great opportunity to enhance our insight on various topics like the recent reporting on the US Census, that has impacted the US marketplace as a whole.  The expo was chock full of ground=breaking leaders that weighed in on important topics such as the Latino consumer, the changing faces of media, pop culture trends, business, entrepreneurship, tech, financial empowerment and recommended career tips and ideas for personal branding.

I enjoyed and learned the most from the Pop Culture seminar with Judy Torres (artist at WKTU 103.5FM), Calixto Chinchilla (founder of the NYILFF), Louis Pagan (managing partner of Hispanicize) Monse (DJ on Hot 97.1FM) and Raymond Mounier (activation manager of Starcom).  This seminar focused on the changing face of media, entertainment and pop culture and discussed the influencers, tastemakers, trendsetters and heads of organization and companies that are influencing the change today.  The Business & Entrepreneurship seminar definitely helped Samantha and I understand and think about how to accelerate our careers and various projects...including Scene Stealers.  We learned about raising funds with investors, understanding banks, finance and cash flow, how to manage our time and stress, recognize the advantages of social media marketing and what secondary income opportunties are available to us.  The panel for this seminar included, Edward Munoz of Champion Development Enterprises, Mike Segal of NY Private Equity Forum, Ligia Jacquez of the US Census, Michelle Cruz owner of East Harlem Cafe, Julio Tejada of State Farm and moderator Jacqueline Gonzalez of the NATASNY

The iConomy Expo is something I would definitely recommend every young professional out there to look into attending next year.  It very beneficial!

Well that's all for now...it was a great day of events! We can't wait to see what next week has in store.

Song of the Week: "Reminded" - Tyga ft. Adele

It's The Little Things...

Video Song: "I Need a Girl " - Trey Songs
_________________________________________________________

Hey Guys!,

AHHHHH!  Ok so we were having some difficulties the last couple of weeks, but nonetheless we are BACK! We just officially became the Beauty & Fashion Editors for Urban Latino Magazine. So if there are any products you would like for us to test out, just e-mail us  Nyscenestealers@gmail.com =)

We attended Lady Blogga's book signing/website showcase! The event was on Tuesday, April 12th, Lady Blogga celebrated her new project at the PNC studios. Mixologist, Kit was there serving complimentary “tha Lady Blogga” cocktails!  For those who don’t know who Lady Blogga is, let me introduce you…

With the Lady of the hour, LADY BLOGGA!
Lady Blogga (Tamika Frye) is known as a woman who speaks her mind! She is a published author and contributing writer to the following sites: Da Designated Hata, Hip Hop Is Cool Again and Global Grind. Her website “Lady Blogga Says” is a very hip site where you can get all the latest urban gossip, information on rising stars and love/life advice. Her book, The Little Things We Learn in Life, is a three book series. The first one Matters of the Heart, is about what everyone deals with, RELATIONSHIPS. I have always been a fan of relationship topics. I believe we all go through similar stages in life and it helps us become who we are. We allow these "relationships" to affect us in a personal, physical & emotional level, which can be a positive or negative experience.

I couldn’t wait to read the book. I thought it was great. It’s a fictional/eye-opener/self-help type of book (I prefer books like this). Each chapter in the book describes different cases/scenarios that happen in relationships. The fictional stories touch upon topics like marriage, mistresses, dating the athlete/rapper, unfaithfulness...and much more...of course there are a couple of stories that do give me hope for love lol. I found myself in a couple of chapters and I know someone for almost each situation.  Lady Blogga's style of writing is so visual, that I couldn't put the book down. Not to mention the steamy sex episodes she describes ::bbm wiping the sweat off face:: ... I'm telling you go get the book! you will learn a thing or two... Click here for purchase.  Its worth the read.

Her celebration included performances from featured “Lady Blogga Says” artists: G-Swagg, Eric Sosa, Madeleine Twyman, spoken word artist J. Sharelle and Warren Britt. Music was provided by Mr. Famous “the Franchise."

The next day I went to Maná’s in-store CD signing at J&R (Park Row). I love Maná! They are like the Latin “Rolling Stones”.  They have been around for YEARS. It all started in the 80’s in the Mexican city of Guadalajara, when a group of ambitious teenagers with a bongo started a band called Sombrero Verde. The band began by playing covers from the groups they admired (Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Police). They eventually wrote their own rock in SPANISH.

In the year I was born (1986) the group changed there name to Maná! The name Maná was chosen because of the significance it has in the Polynesian language: “Positive Energy.” Almost 25 years later they are still a hot commodity! Their new album DRAMA Y LUZ  (Drama & Light) is pretty self-explanatory. It captures the good and the bad, love and pain, defeat and revenge, fear and hope. You can hear the passion and dedication within each delivery of the song.

The first single is “Lluvia al Corazon” (Rain to the Heart). It is such a passionate song about hope. When things don’t seem right all you have to do is see the best in things. The rain will wash away all the negativity and suffering from any wounds. Don't lose faith it's all about staying “MANA” (Optimistic).

Check out the video above (it just so happens to be my song of the week)

'Til next time!

xo, Samantha

__________

What's up!

Samantha pretty much covered everything that we did this past week...besides all various projects we've attached ourselves to.  We're definitely keeping super busy.

So while Samantha gave you a little something for your intellectual side, with Lady Blogga's book, The Little Things We Learn in Life...I'm going to give you some dopeness for your eardrums...courtesy of the featured "Lady Blogga Says" artists, who all gave awesome performances at Lady Blogga's book release.

Madeleine Twyman
First up was the unconventional Madeleine Twyman. Madeleine is the new definition of female authenticity.  Madeleine has tremendous love for poetry and dance, which is evident throughout her performance (She travels with troupe of ballerinas, dancehall queens and pop dancers). She mentored under reggae musician Donny Marshall and with Sidney Mills of the Grammy winning band Steel Pulse. She delivers a captivating blend of singing, rapping and dance with a rebellious and empowering, every in your face experience. Checkout one of her performances at Sullivan Hall a few weeks ago, here

G-Swagg
G-Swagg was born in South Carolina but raised in Far Rockaway, Queens.  To G-Swagg, music is both an outlet (to become successful) and his personal platform to ventilate on some of the unfortunate actualities he has encountered growing up on the Beach 40th Street Publci Housing Projects. He is undoubtedly blessed with exceptional songwriting skills, lyrical brilliance and a sharp outlook on life, the streets, love, the future and the music business. He is the CEO of his own independent entertainment company, Fam Click Entertainment, this young African American and Italian artist is definitely building up his brand.  You definitely should checkout his latest track, "Last Hope."

J. Sharelle
J. Sharelle was next to mix it up a bit. She is a Brooklyn bred poet and song writer with a B.A. in Sociology from Long Island University.  Since, 2005 she's been honing her spoken word skills throughout New York City at various events.  J. Sharelle's writings embark on love and life...and definitely take you on an emotional rollercoaster. Her words speak the truth and expose emotions that transcend her NYC background. Checkout her performance at LIU of "Lights Please" this past fall, here

Eric Sosa
Friend to Urban Latino, Eric Sosa performed next. The young MC has virtually mastered the art of rhetoric and epitomizes lyrical confidence with skill and range that many artists today have not mastered. He's virtually taken over the NYC underground scene blessing the stage at various venues, including Santos Party House, Crash Mansion and Public Assembly. He released his first mixtape, Let the Pete Rock in 2007...and followed up with the release of his series, Rhyme & Noodles: No Artificial Flavoring (two volumes so far). In both releases, he displays his natural lyrical abilities maintaining a classic hip hop sound while also giveing glimpses into the future of hip hop with his versatility intertwining his sounds with a dash of Rock, Techno and Reggae. Click here to listen to one of my favorite tracks, "Celebrate."

Warren Britt
Lastly, was Warren Britt. Warren Britt started off writing poetry while still in elementary. He gradually picked u the art of hip hop, drawing inspiration from artists such as LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest and more. The Brooklyn native has set his goals on taking on the world’s imagination and giving the people fun, by balancing it out with raw imagery and great energy that is needed in these trying times through the power of music. If you like artists like The Roots, Motion City Soundtrack or Gym Class Heroes...you'll definitely rock out to Warren Britt. Be sure to listen to his track, "In The City."

Hope you enjoyed all this "new flava in your ear." Can't wait to see what this crop of young talent do next.

Song of the week: "She Ain't You" - Chris Brown

“Celebrate We Will..."

Video Song: "The Time (Dirty Bit Remix - DJ Lazy K)" - Black Eyed Peas
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys!

Jess & I with the Bday boy, Pretty Lou

I hope you enjoyed our last post with our spotlighter of the month, Margie B! Also, just want to remind you to make sure you tune in every Monday night to Urban Latino Radio - Front Stage Radio - with host Pretty Lou, DJ Top 10, DJ Harry Hash and DJ Fort Knox! On Saturday (3/26) we celebrated with the fellas of Front Stage Radio for Pretty Lou's official birthday party at Soriee! It was great to party with the birthday boy and the whole Urban Latino Radio family, after a long shift at Sazon. Definitly great times. Pretty Lou and DJ Top 10 were doing their thing, hyping the crowd with great music and fun memories. I love celebrating birthdays and milestones!!!

Speaking of "birthdays"...

My Beautiful Linesisters <3 DK Founders
Saturday, March 25th, 2011 marked a very special day for Jessica and I! Four years ago on that very same day we (along with 10 beautiful ladies) crossed over to Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Soroity, Incorporated. Not only did we cross into a beautiful sisterhood, but we also founded the chapter, Delta Kappa (also known as DK-NY), at St. John's University. To celebrate our 4th "Lambdaversary"  our undergrads hosted a banquet on campus named, “When the Moon is the Only Light You See.”  The proceeds from the event, benefitted the New York City Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic ViolenceThe Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence (OCDV) formulates policies and programs, monitors the Citywide delivery of domestic violence services, and works with diverse communities to increase awareness of domestic violence. Through the City’s ongoing efforts, during the last eight years, family related homicides decreased by 20% citywide.

Another chartitable event from our sorority will take place Saturday, April 9th, 2011. Our Gamma Chapter (The College of New Jersey) will be celebrating their 30th anniversary! The charity gala will benefit LTA's national philanthropy, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  This event is open to the public and we highly encourage everyone to go out and support! Tickets are being sold online at http://ltagammachapter.eventbrite.com and include a three course meal, plus open bar. It's a great way to raise awareness to childhood cancer as well as raise funds for St. Jude.  Gamma Chapter will be donating one hundred percent of the proceeds from ticket sales, advertisement sales and donations to the organization.  A representative from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be present to speak about more about St. Jude's unique mission. A raffle will take place during the event courtesy of Dennis Sports Consulting.  DJ services will be provided by DJ Evolution and photography services by GF ProPhoto professional photography and video services.

Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc, became an official collegiate partner to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in 2010, becoming the first individual Latino Greek organization to commit fully to the hospital's efforts. To learn more go to http://stjude.org/lta. I'm proud to be part of such a prestige sorority!

Selena

I love celebrating birthdays and important occaisions. Life is too short not to celebrate! This past week we lost Hollywood actress, Elizabeth Taylor &  and Hot 97/BET 106 and Park, DJ Megatron....may they RIP.
P.S. Song of the week, "Como La Flor" - in memory of my idol, Selena (March 31, 2011 marked the 16th anniversary of her passing, she will forever live in my heart ) "The impossible is always possible"

xo, Samantha

What's up!

We're back! We've been extremely busy with a bunch of new clients at ULM and putting in lots of hours at Sazon...we barely have time for ourselves!

This past week though, there were so many special occasions that we had to make time to celebrate.

Candid Shot of the Chapter
This past Friday (3/25), marked the four year anniversary of the Delta Kappa chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Our undergrads did an awesome job of putting together a week of great events to celebrate the occasion...ending with our 4th annual gala.  It was a great success and was super special because our whole chapter (30 deep) was there for the event.  The gala was not only a celebration of our anniversary, but also brought awareness to a serious issue, domestic violence.  All the proceeds from the night were given to the New York City Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence. I was very proud of my chapter, especially the undergrads for all their hard work...and it was awesome to see sisters that I haven't seen in a long time, particularly my linesisters.

DJ Top 10 & Pretty Lou
Satuday (3/26), after a long shift at Sazon, Samantha and I headed to Soiree to party with Pretty Lou and the Front Stage Radio crew for Lou's birthday celebration.  DJ Top 10 rocked it on the turntables, while Lou got the crowd hyped on the mic. We definitely danced the night away with the Urban Latino Radio family.

That was our fun-filled week! Hope you all have productive week...and stay tuned, we have a lot of things in the work for Scene Stealers.  Thank you to everyone for their continued support.

Me & Samantha on our Anniversary
"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate" (Orpah Winfrey)...so enjoy!

Song of Week: "Sure Thing" - Miguel ("...you can bet that, never got to sweat that..."...love it!)

xo, Jessica
