Hey Guys,

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial weekend! Can you believe we are already in June?! Why is this year going by so fast? =( lol

So let's play catch up…We’ve currently been working with a couple of clients, Eddie Palmieri, Johnny Walker, the new Copacabana and much much moreee! Our latest client was Award-Winning Journalist, Sandra Guzman! Latinas would consider her as the Goddess of Latina empowerment! We were honored to help her with the book launch/reading of The New Latina's Bible at Borders Columbus Circle. Ms. Guzman discussed her book, with Oscar-nominated actress Rosie Perez and CEO of El Diario, Rossana Rosado! She even gave us a shoutout (Check our video out). We felt extremely flattered to be acknowledged by a powerful woman like herself. Her book explores and touches issues that us Latinas encounter on a everyday basis. I’m not done reading the book yet, but I can tell all you striving Latinas out there its worth the read! It can be a life changing experience.

“I wrote The New Latina’s Bible with a simple desire: to inspire Latinas to feel joyous about their culture, to understand that they mattered, that they are beautiful and intelligent and that they could dream big and achieve the unimaginable. Ahh! She is truly inspirational, a living angel. She is the voice for every Latina out there, she writes from the heart and soul, which makes her words so relatable. After the reading (which was a Sex chapter ;) ) we headed over to the afterparty at the Empire Hotel (Rooftop)! Everyone wanted to talk to the Latina goddess of the hour.  We managed to take a pic with Sandra and get our book signed :) while mingling in the VIP. It was a great turn out. I couldn’t stay for long because I had a flight to Miami to catch.

I left Jessica for the whole weekend, longest time we ever been apart =( lol.  Miami was my mini-getaway, it was great to just relax and clear my mind. It’s essential to do that once in a while, especially when you have more than 2 jobs to handle -_-.  My last day at Miami was pretty random. I was tanning on the beach when a bunch of paparazzi were snapping away right in front of us. Someone yelled “Its Lindsay Lohan” – Yes, I’m not ashamed to say I’m a Lohan supporter…granted she has been in trouble for the past couple of years and she has no one to blame but herself, I still feel for her. Anyway, the Mean Girl actress sat right in front of us. Its so funny because when I was younger  I always said I was going to meet her or bump into her. I had to steal a mini-scene with her. After she blew off the annoying paparazzi, I went up to her and told her to stay strong and not to quit! (I really want her to have a comeback like Britney Spears!) She shook my hand and genuinely appreciated what I said. I didn’t want to bother her with pics but my friends, took some shots of us interacting. Hang in their Lohan!!!  She actually had a photoshoot for Plum Magazine at the Raleighi Hotel right next to where we were staying, the Continental.

When I got back Jessica and I went to the private launch of NYC’s most exciting new mobile restaurant “The Camarena Taco Truck”. The tacos were absolutely scrumptious! I had to sneak two more into my tummy!  They were infused by familia Camarena Tequila. There was Tequila galore! There were shots ready upon arrival, signature cocktails and cupcakes filled with this smooth tequila. #CamarenaTequila = My new best friend lol.

Last but not least, shoutout to our second home SAZON RESTAURANT; my boss Genaro Morales has filed a discrimination lawsuit. Unfortunately the neighbors and board don’t really want us there and are finding every way possible to close us down. Its very unfortunate! I hope this racism stops :/ Don’t forget to support Sazon!

What's Up!

For the past few weeks, we've been working with award-winning journalist, Sandra Guzmán in preparing for the highly anticipated launch of her new book The New Latina's Bible. All our hardwork paid off and resulted in an amazing book signing and reading at Borders Columbus Circle, launching Sandra's New York book tour.

Sandra Guzmán is an award-winning multimedia journalist with more than two decades experience in broadcast, newspaper and magazine journalism. Guzmán is the former editor-in-chief of Latina magazine and was also a former associate editor at The New York Post, here she edited nearly a dozen feature sections, including Tempo and a section she created that covered the city's Latino community. Guzmán's The New Latina's Bible, is the predecessor to her first book, The Latina's Bible: The Latina's Guide to Love, Family, Spirituality and La Vida.

Sandra Guzmán was joined at Borders by some of her friends: Rossana Rosado, publisher/CEO of El Diario, and Academy Award nominee, Rosie Perez, as well as a room full of her fans. The book, which she read excerpts from, is a book on what every Latina should know about dating, health, succeeding professionally and managing friendships...among other things. It's been nearly 10 years since the original Latina's Bible was released, Guzmán has updated lots of information as well as added two new chapters. Guzmán continues in to use her trademark warmth, humor and wisdom to explore the wide range of topics that rarely addressed to Latinas. Sandra Guzmán is hip and empowering...and her book is a great guide for twenty-first century Latinas who are facing the trails and joys of living and loving. She is truly an inspiration and while at her book reading was reminded what it is to dream and to most importantly achieve. 

Afterwards we headed to the Empire Hotel Rooftop afterparty for a few drinks with Guzmán, Rosie Perez, Telemundo Acesso Total's new correspodent Madelyn Rodriguez, producer/writer/actress Elaine Del Valle, actor Jimmy Smits and others. The events were a greats success and we were super proud to be a part of something so influential to the Latina community.

Wednesday, May 25th, Samantha and I were reunited for an agave influenced filled event. Camarena Tequila launched their brand of tequila with a taco truck parked in the Classic Car Club of Manhattan. This family brand of tequila has been around for over six generations. For over 250 years, the Camarenas have taken great care in preserving the invaluable resources of the region of Arandas (home to family-owned tequila distillery), practicing sustainable farming and taking a long-range approach to growing quality agave...and you can definitely taste it.

The Camarena Tequila Taco Truck which arrived in New York on May 19th, will be a criss-crossing the city until June 28th hitting various venues and events...for free! Yea, thats right, the Camarena Tequila Taco Truck will be serving up crispy tacos filled with pastor and tequila-spiked pineapple salsa, tequila-marinated chicken taquitos and even a pinto bean taco with a shot of tequila in the bean pot (must be 21 and over though). All these delicious snacks were created by chef, Jesse R. Vega (of Suenos Restuarant). Want to get your hands on these tasty tacos?! There's three ways to find the truck (1) "like" Camarena Tequila on facebook and keep an eye on their virtual truck, (2) follow them in twitter and/or (3) friend them on foursquare for their latest location.

In additions to tequila-infused food, Camarena served up some deliciously smooth cocktails...of course all with tequila! Robicelli's also made an appearance at the launch with dozens and dozens of mini-cupcakes with...yea that's right, tequila! Who knew you could cook so many good things with tequila (lol)?

Jess and I’s second home - Sazon Restaurant  - the tropical, sexy/sophisticated ambiance attracts a sense of tranquility and captures the culture and art of Puerto Rico. You all have to come by…especially Saturdays that's when the party really starts! You can find us both there, I work the lounge and she holds it down in the office. I love dabbling into this industry, it’s a perfect experience and a great way to get our foot in the door toward our future investment!

Have you heard Sazon shoutouts on x96.3? They play it every 5mins. They even shoutout our very own Chef Frank!! Jess and I hung out with DJ Sleepy from the (x93.6) Luis Jimenez Show! We had an interesting outing after a night at Sazon lol. We actually found out his big sister is singer, Lumidee.

Urban Latino always manage to have our after-party events at the venue! Last week was a perfect example for that. We had our Acoustic Wednesday there (check Jess's post for the 411) and we also hosted the 100 Hispanic Men after-party! The 100 Hispanic Men produced a Comedy Fundraiser at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre. The non-profit organization started out as a forum for Hispanic men in 2006. Today, it is a platform for Hispanic men with diverse backgrounds and careers. Through networking and community involvement, their goal is to form new possibilities for young people, build groundbreaking programs and revitalized communities.The evening was hosted by Kenny Ortega (Urban Latino Radio, SiTV Latino Laugh Festival, MTV Tr3s). Not only did he make people cry out of laughter, he also introduced the following comedians: Victor Cruz (SiTV Latino Laugh Festival, Law & Order), Gina Brillion (Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, MTV Tr3s) and Vladimir Caamano (Stand Up 360 at the Movies, Comic Quikies). The night was so funny!

#FunFact - Laughter can help relieve pain, bring greater happiness, and even increase immunity! Its good for the Soul and Body =).

Anyway you guys! I have to run off and get some sleep. Today is going to be a long day/night. We are working the LQs event where Alex Sensation and Johnnie Walker Black Label will announce their partnership. It should be a good night! ;)

What is up!

Haha, so I bet you all thought Samantha and I wouldn't put another post up this month...but you were wrong!! (lol) Nah, but we do honestly apologize for not putting our posts up in a timely manner, we're still trying to get used to our busy schedules.  It's hard, but I think little by little we're finding our groove and are managing our time better between our multiple jobs and projects. Zeitlin Perez

So this week was all about our third home, Sazon (1st being out actual homes (lol) and 2nd being Urban Latino).  We attended GIVEN Liqueur's Acoustic Wednesday which featured LIVE performances from our friends, Zeitlin Perez, Joshua Torrez and new up-and-comer, Prez. 

Zeitlin Perez has performed for Merengue pioneers: Rubby Perez, Johnny Ventura, and The Henry Jimenez band. But her main highlight came from being on tour with Grammy award winning Dominican Merengue singer, Milly Quezada also known as the Merengue queen. Zeitlin’s range of music varies from R&B, Salsa, Spanish rock - but her heart will always be Merengue! She wants to follow the footsteps of Milly Quezada, but also strives to be able to sing in both worlds (English and Spanish). 

Joshua Torrez

Vocalist and Guitarist Joshua Torrez  is originally from Chicago. The artist is so young and talented, with an old but wise soul that transfers into his songs - his music is definitely reminiscent of Al Green.

Prez from IME Records added the "Hip Hop" element to Wednesday's performance. The South Jamaica, Queens native performed his latest work, based on his trial and tribulations. "Hip Hop allows people to express themselves in a free manner, and allows different races and religions to meet on common ground.” stated the young MC.

It was a great night that showcased lots of talent!  Later on that week, Samantha worked the 100 Hispanic Men Comedy event at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre with Kenny Ortega, Victor Cruz, Gina Brillion and Vladimir Caamano (read her post for more details). The after-party was at Sazon, where I was working. So Samantha filled me in on all the hilarious jokes from that night.

Hey Guys,

OMG this is our  5^th day of 2011 (my fave number) …  I can already tell you this year has started out LOVELY! Bringing in the New Year with the people I love was priceless. I’m still high off of life. I feel this year is going to be absolutely productive!

So, business at ULM has been picking up! I have a couple of cool meetings and projects lined up. I’m actually pretty excited to go to a meeting with Marc Anthony’s publicist this week! I love to see what kind of stuff we can collaborate on :D.

Shoutout to my girl Madelyn Rodriguez, she stars in Sensato Del Patio's new music video, a remix of Aventura’s “El Malo." A follow-up to his 2009 smash hit “Watagabitusberry," which debut at #4 on Billboard Magazine Latin Rhythm Charts, as well as the Top 50 Hot Latin Songs and tropical airplay. It's exciting to see her acting debut in the video playing the love interest. Her unique deep and raspy voice often called “sexy” has been on New York City’s top three Latin radio stations La Mega 97.9, Amor 93.1 and her current gig x96.3.

So even with all the mysteriously weird circumstances, like the thousands of dead red-winged birds falling from the sky in Arkansas and Louisiana along with millions of dead fish in the Chesapeake Bay (yea, pretty creepy :/ )...I still love you 2011 lol.  So whether or not the end of the worlds rumors are true, I will still be living and producing the BEST LIFE POSSIBLE. Remember life is the ticket to the greatest show on earth, so don't put it to waste.. =)

Oh I almost forgot! I chopped off my hair. This has seriously been the shortest I’ve ever had it...it was a huge step for me lol.

Arielle and I on NYE

First off, I'd like to say Happy 2011 to everyone.  I hope you all enjoyed their New Year celebrations, I know I did.  I counted down to 2011 with my parents at home then partied the night...and morning (lol) away with my lovely linesisters (S/O to Christi, Christina, Adriana, Arielle, Socorro and duhh...Samantha). It was definitely a night full of hilarious memories...a great way to start out the year.

This year is definitely about fresh new starts and welcoming new opportunities. So far I've stuck to my resolutions...I know it's only the 5th day of the year and all but realistically most people's resolutions don't make it past the first night (lol)!! So I'm staying true...it's not easy, I've caught myself twice already, but I got it together quick enough not to break my main resolution. So wish me luck, I need it!!

So other than coming back to work after a nice long break, there's not much going on.  There will definitely be some very buzzworthy things coming up very soon with Urban Latino and Scene Stealers, so be on the lookout!

That's really it today...oooohhhh wait, before you go...I can't believe I almost forgot ::can't watch face:: 

Scene Stealers' very first networking event will be this Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 at Vibrations Lounge on the Lower East Side. The event is called the "Make-A-Wish Networking Event." Half of our proceeds that night will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Foundation has been enriching the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work for over 30 years.  It's going to be awesome!  We'll have yummy hors d' ouvres from Sazon Restaurant.  We'll have music from the very talented DJ Evolution.  Very soon we'll be able to announce our liquor sponsor and our signature "Scene Stealers" cocktail that will be available the day of the event!! We'll have gift bags with lots of goodies for H&M ThinkLatino, The Beauty Channel, Tuch Tone Ready Music, Urban Latino Magazine, Abarrotes Mexicanos and more! It will all be captured on film by us and in photos by M.S. Productions.

Good Music, Good Food & Good Company...Happy Holidays!

Hey Guys,

 

I hope you all did your Christmas shopping and didn’t wait LAST minute like I did -_______-. I had no time with everything that’s going on. Nonetheless this week was short but still pretty eventful.

We are currently working with Chef Frank Maldonado the executive chef of Sazon Restaurant. Personally I’m THRILLED with this opportunity, because I love him!! He always takes care of me with not only delish meals but with unbelievable words of encouragement when it comes to …LIFE. Part of me doing what I do is to see others happy... I love helping out a dream & sure enough Chef Frank’s touching his dreams one by one. I booked him a couple of interviews to promote his appearance on Food Network’s “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” Empanada style. They aired his “Throwdown” on Wednesday December 22! Jess and I along with our “wolfpack” went to the Puerto Rican Restaurants for the Viewing party. It was a great time celebrating his debut on a huge network. He actually loses :/ but there are rumors that it was fixed. Anywho, If you guys missed it, tune in on Christmas Day at 7pm he will be on again… I’m telling you, you will FALL IN LOVE with his incredible personality and of course the Empanadas!! 

Amongst the crowd was our Boss Jorge Cano-Moreno, Singer Zeitlin Perez and Joshua Torrez omg! You guys have to check him out!!! I’m telling you click here to read more about him. This artist is incredible, he is so young and talented but has an old but wise soul that transfers into his songs. His music takes me way back … way before my time .. like Al Green time. Jess and I went to R bar to check his performance out on Tuesday and when he went on stage he had the ability to command EVERYONES attention in a matter of seconds, leaving everyone astonished - His performance literally gave me goosebumps! Torrez recently debut his solo acoustic album titled “The Cuts”-- It’s actually not digitally corrected, meaning it’s untouched, just pure good music! You can find it on Urban Latino.

So remember the lavishing pink makeup party we covered a couple of blogs ago?.... Well we just got word that the first stop on the Ayari Makeup Tour will be February 26, 2011 in New York City! Check this out --Ladies I’m telling you, you its worth it.

Ok guys thats all from me!! also keep in mind that positive energy (Family, Friends ect), laughter & love… is all you need to be complete. Fortunately I can say I have that, to me thats the best present in the world =)

What's Up!

It's almost Christmas time and to get us in the holiday spirit, we spent this week listening to good music, eating tasty food and spending our time with awesome company =)

Joshua Torrez

It all started Tuesday night at R Bar with a live performance from Joshua Torrez. Hailing from Chicago, Joshua Torrez has just recently started his career and has already left his imprint in the world. While he graduated with a BFA in Fine Art with a focus on acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University, Joshua has never neglected his other passion - music. Since he didn't really know how to go about starting a music career, he went out into the street with a hat at his feet and started singing songs he enjoyed, while once in awhile throwing in his own. That's how he got recognized...how crazy is that! A man by the name of Timur approached him, became his manager...and voilà! he was doing 3 hour set at a local bar.  Since then Joshua has been performing live music at various venues. 

His performance with his band on Tuesday was awesome. Everyone was swaying to his music and even asked for an encore when his set was over. His style of music reminds me of Bruno Mars but bluesier. To check out his music, visit his website JoshuaTorrez.com and catch him live at various venues in NYC.  You can also listen to him as part of the newly formed collective Art For Money with Omar Davis "CrashPlanet" (vocalist/guitarist), Zeitlin Perez (vocalist), Jesse Pantoja (percussionist) and producers Momar Clemons and Ramon Silva. They'll be at Creole on January 20th and then at Sazon on January 25th.  

The "Pack"

Wednesday night Samantha and I, along with our "pack" (lol) held our holiday dinner and secret Santa gift exchange at Sazon.  While we were there we caught the premiere of Sazon's executive chef, Chef Frank Maldonado's appearance on Food Network's "Throwdown with Bobby Flay!".  In the episode, Bobby Flay challenged Chef Frank to an empanada duel.  It was great to see Chef Frank doing his thing in the kitchen - he has such a passion for food!  Unfortunately, Bobby Flay's version of the Puerto Rican staple won over the judges...but Chef Frank's empanadas are delicious (he treated his viewing party attendees to his mouthwatering treats)! 

We had a great dinner and very...entertaining conversations (lol).  Afterwards, we headed to R Bar once again for "Beats & Brands Holiday Party & Sample Sale" hosted by Nina Sky, MadeMe and NastyOnes. Nicole got behind the DJ booth to provide the tunes, Belvedere Vodka supplied the drinks and brands: MadeMe, Legendary Damon, Kerin Rose, Cubannie Links, Endless Noise, Funky Fannys and Kweens Destroy delivered the fashion. The atmosphere was very funky and creative...an overall great end to the night.

Well there's my recap of the week...I have to get out of here now to finish my Christmas shopping (::bbm can't watch face::)! I'm so dreading it since I know all the shopping centers and stores will be a complete zoo...smh, but I only have two more people on my list and Christmas Eve is tomorrow!

P.S. I want to congratulate my lovely linesister Heather and her husband Sergio on their gorgeous baby girl, Alexis Andrea. The little princess was born December 18th at 12:40am at 7 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 inches.  <3
