We LIVE!!

 Video Song: "Please DJ"- Yeyo
___________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys!

Wow I feel like its been forever since I wrote here! And its only been 2 weeks. Those two weeks has been extremely hectic! From our 1st event of the year to being on  urbanlatinoradio.com to filming a commercial at Sazon and more!!  ::phew:: As we promised we are giving you the 411 on what’s going on!

So here’s the recap…last week was our 1st networking party under Scene Stealers. In preparation for the event we had an official banner and business cards.  In all honesty (because we keep it real) the night started out as a complete mess. Our DJs equipment broke and it was the night of the “snow storm” - the snow scare kind of killed our event just a tad bit. Non-the-less, the show must go on =) … we worked with what we had! Our DJ eventually got the music going and our supporters started to arrive. Sazon’s Chef Frank made us special mini beef empanadas for the event – which everyone LOVED!  Our Guests were so lovely and praised Jess and I on our baby, Scene Stealers! We were so grateful with the turnout. Everyone left with a Scene Stealer gift bag & smile =)

Once again if you came to our party…THANK YOU!  Our events will only get BIGGER AND BETTER!

So…
That Saturday I went with my mom to see They Call Me La Lupe starring miss Lauren Valez at Teatro Latea.  They Call Me La Lupe is a joint production of  Tatro Latea and Dura Vida Productions. It was Directed by Veronica Calcedo and written by Emmy winner James Manos Jr. and Luis CaballeroValez did an amazing job interrupting the salsa legend, and what I thought was remarkable was the fact that it was a ONE- WOMAN SHOW, meaning there wasn’t any other actors but her. She held her own and was able to captivate everyone’s attention and relive a passionate story! In chronological order, Lauren Valez portrayed Lupe's life in a marvelous matter. Just to fill you in La Lupe was known as the Queen on Latin Soul!  During the Cuban revolution La Lupe was kicked out of her hometown and moved to NY!  Here, she embarked on her journey, La Lupe soon befriended and recorded with world-renowned Afro-Cuban percussionist Mongo Santamaria.
She later met Tito Puento and apparently left Santamaria for the timbale player. In 1964, La Lupe and Tito Puente recorded the Latin classic "Te Pedi (What Did I Ask of You)". For the next four years, she recorded and toured the Latin music circuit in the U.S., Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama and Spain.  During the late 1960s, Tito Puente started to record with Celia Cruz.  Puente couldn’t handle how much recognition Lupe was getting and decide to let her go (hmph can you believe these men, they can’t handle successful women -_- ) So La Lupe struck out on her own, performing and appearing everywhere. By 1975, Fania's new rising star was Celia Cruz, and La Lupe's career suffered. Fania Records ended her contract, and Lupe became penniless. You guys have to take a look a look at this! The last day to see the play is tomorrow at 3pm and 8pm!  Her crazy performances and soulful voice is what sets her apart from other artists of her time.  However there were rumors that she was extremely hard to work with, she also had problems with alcohol and drugs.  Click here to see a clip of her performance ….she was the “Lady Gaga” of her time.

So Jess and I found out that radio host Pretty Lou was looking for guest hosts!... we thought it would be so fun to be on the show. So we decided to ask and BAM! There we were on FRONT STAGE RADIO  the most controversial on-line radio station out there. It was a wonderful experience being on radio. We were on Monday to Thursday from 10pm -1am! Each night was a different topic! (Check out Jess’s blog for more details on the topic!)  Producer Angela Rivera gave us the rundown before each show - so we knew ahead of time with what’s going on! (SHOUT OUT TO ANGIE <3)The show was formatted with plenty of Gossip and News! On Wednesday and Thursday they had independent segments such as "Hard to pronounce words with Pretty Lou" (which was hilarious!!!) and Thursday Jess and I helped with the top 20 countdown!  We even dapped our feet into being judges for the unsigned artist segment called "Do or Die". The contestant was K.O.D.A ! (King of Dem All) he unfortunately didn’t pass not because of his talent but because of the production A.K.A. his beats. Shout out to him for being an awesome sport and we wish you the best! I love self-driving people. So big props to you and everyone who’s working hard to accomplish that dream! What's cool about Urban Latino Radio is the fact that it has a LIVE chat room where we got to interact with the listeners! it got pretty crazy in there, reading all the conversations.

Sazon was filming a commercial that will be airing on Time Warner and other local channels. The date of the release is TBD. It was a cool experience! I was caught off guard when they asked me to be in it lol my hair was definitely not up to par lol. I can’t wait to see the final product!

Well yea guys as you can see we had a busy two weeks and that’s not included with our actual URBAN LATINO work that we have. Handling accountants working on a Hosting reel ect...its crazy! Lol but I’m looking forward to what this year will continue to bring Jess and I! Thank you once again for being part of our growing story =)

What's up!

Did you guys miss us?! (lol)

At our Event =)
We've been extremely busy lately expanding our "Scene Stealers" brand. As you all know last week we held our very first networking event benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Samantha and I were very stressed the entire day (lol).  We were having some issues with our printers, DJ equipment and expecting a pending snow storm.  Although, I have to say despite the snow storm that night, there was a nice turnout.

I want to personally thank everyone that came out to support us : DJ Evolution, Manny Smalls (M.S. Productions), our ULM family, our sorority sisters (from NY to New Mexico!), the brothers of Lambda Theta Phi Fraternidad Latina, Inc., the brothers of Lambda Upsilon Lambda La Unida Latina Fraternity, Inc., the brothers of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc., the Art for Money Collective, Oscar Martinez, Maria Benanti and Miguel Bonilla.  It really meant a lot to both Samantha and I, that you all braved the weather to come support us and this cause.

Chatting it up on UrbanLatinoRadio.com
This week, we had the awesome privilege of being guest co-hosts on the Front Stage Radio Show with Pretty Lou, DJ Top 10, DJ Harry Hash, Magic and Angela (the producer) on Urban Latino Radio. Pretty Lou is native New Yorker and an innovator in the world of broadcast media.  He's had shows on DTF Radio, Sirius and XM Satellite Radio to name a few. DJ Top 10 is a man of many talents - radio and mixtape DJ, official BumSquad DJ, radio personality and promoter.  DJ Harry Hash is an awesome DJ and Magic (who was only with us on Tuesday) is known as the "Sneaker King World Radio Personality."  All these talent fellas in a room with Samantha and I, for 4 days...good times (lol).

We were very very nervous the first day and had no idea what to expect.  Pretty Lou introduced us to his listeners and did a little impromptu interview with us.  We then got into some celebrity gossip and music mixes.  Tuesday, we were a little more relaxed and had some entertaining topics to discuss on air.  That night's topic was "Why men choose and women settle when it comes to marriage"...so you already know we had a lot to say on the topic (lol)!  It got really interesting in the ULR chatroom with everyone giving their 2 cents on the issue.

Wednesday came around and Samantha and I were starting to feel like pros (lol).  We were more comfortable with talking on the radio live and definitely showcased more of our personalities. Wednesday night's topic was hilarious...it had me and Samantha kind of butting heads with our different opinions.  The topic was "You want to date a friend of your ex, how long do you wait after the relationship is over to approach the friend?" Thursday was our final night on the radio show with the fellas. Thursday night's structure was different from the previous nights because we did a rundown of Billboard's Top 20 chart. One of the things, Lou is well known for is having paved the way for many artists and radio professionals with us "unsigned hype" segment, which has become a template for other stations and has given new undiscovered talent their opportunity to be heard while allowing listeners to weigh in. Samantha and I participated in this segment and were a bit hesitant at first, but we definitely gave our opinions.

Me, K.O.D.A., Pretty Lou & Samantha
This week's artist was K.O.D.A.  K.O.D.A. (King Of Dem All) is an up and coming hip hop artist raised in Tampa, Florida and now calls the lower east side of Manhattan home.  He's been perfecting his skills for about 8 years using both the East Coast and the down South as his major influences. He brought two of this tracks to station for us to listen to and evaluate.  We all agreed that K.O.D.A.'s word play was great, his delivery nice...but for some reason we all thought that there was something off. Ultimately, it was decided that he would not pass our unsigned artist segment...because although he has a tremendous talent, he needed to work harder and possibly work with a new team of producers and DJs, according the Lou.

And that concluded our internet radio journey with Front Stage Radio.  We want to thank both Angela and Lou for giving us this opportunity to guest co-host this past week.  We really learned a lot and it has definitely got me and Samantha thinking of other ventures we may want to pursue. We also got an offer to guest co-host with Kenny Ortega on his "One2Quatro Show" (also on Urban Latino Radio) next week...so Samantha and I must of done something right (lol)!!

Thank you to everyone that as supported us in our endeavors so far this year...from trooping it in a snowstorm to listening religiously these past four days...we really appreciate it!! And trust me when I say there is lots more to come =D

Song of the Week: "Blow Up" - J.Cole (TRUTH!!! Watch out for Scene Stealers...cuz we about to blow up! lol)

We’ve also been working a lot with Art For Money. “AFM” is an innovative musical concept with a fresh new look and original sound that combines soul, blues, Latin, jazz with contemporary R&B that everyone loves to groove to. Their unique presence is very organic and in sync. Art For Money merges songs and styles that we know and love into one harmonious tune. They bring out the true meaning of versatility. It’s evident that something great has been born. You can catch them live on January 20th, 2011 at Creole Lounge and January 25th, 2011 at Sazon Restaurant. =)

Shoutout to my girl Madelyn Rodriguez, she stars in Sensato Del Patio's new music video, a remix of Aventura’s “El Malo." A follow-up to his 2009 smash hit “Watagabitusberry," which debut at #4 on Billboard Magazine Latin Rhythm Charts, as well as the Top 50 Hot Latin Songs and tropical airplay. It's exciting to see her acting debut in the video playing the love interest. Her unique deep and raspy voice often called “sexy” has been on New York City’s top three Latin radio stations La Mega 97.9, Amor 93.1 and her current gig x96.3.

So even with all the mysteriously weird circumstances, like the thousands of dead red-winged birds falling from the sky in Arkansas and Louisiana along with millions of dead fish in the Chesapeake Bay (yea, pretty creepy :/ )...I still love you 2011 lol.  So whether or not the end of the worlds rumors are true, I will still be living and producing the BEST LIFE POSSIBLE. Remember life is the ticket to the greatest show on earth, so don't put it to waste.. =)

Oh I almost forgot! I chopped off my hair. This has seriously been the shortest I’ve ever had it...it was a huge step for me lol.
 What do you think?

ok well, see ya at Vibrations, I'll save ya a dance ;)

xo, Samantha

P.S - I LOVE THIS SONG. It's my baby, Trey Songs - "ALREADY TAKEN" 0:)

__________

What's up,

Arielle and I on NYE
First off, I'd like to say Happy 2011 to everyone.  I hope you all enjoyed their New Year celebrations, I know I did.  I counted down to 2011 with my parents at home then partied the night...and morning (lol) away with my lovely linesisters (S/O to Christi, Christina, Adriana, Arielle, Socorro and duhh...Samantha). It was definitely a night full of hilarious memories...a great way to start out the year.

This year is definitely about fresh new starts and welcoming new opportunities. So far I've stuck to my resolutions...I know it's only the 5th day of the year and all but realistically most people's resolutions don't make it past the first night (lol)!! So I'm staying true...it's not easy, I've caught myself twice already, but I got it together quick enough not to break my main resolution. So wish me luck, I need it!!

So other than coming back to work after a nice long break, there's not much going on.  There will definitely be some very buzzworthy things coming up very soon with Urban Latino and Scene Stealers, so be on the lookout!

That's really it today...oooohhhh wait, before you go...I can't believe I almost forgot ::can't watch face::

Scene Stealers' very first networking event will be this Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 at Vibrations Lounge on the Lower East Side. The event is called the "Make-A-Wish Networking Event." Half of our proceeds that night will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Foundation has been enriching the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work for over 30 years.  It's going to be awesome!  We'll have yummy hors d' ouvres from Sazon Restaurant.  We'll have music from the very talented DJ Evolution.  Very soon we'll be able to announce our liquor sponsor and our signature "Scene Stealers" cocktail that will be available the day of the event!! We'll have gift bags with lots of goodies for H&M ThinkLatino, The Beauty Channel, Tuch Tone Ready Music, Urban Latino Magazine, Abarrotes Mexicanos and more! It will all be captured on film by us and in photos by M.S. Productions

Like the haircut??
I'm definitely excited and know this event will be a great success...the start of many successful events that Scene Stealers will bring you in 2011 ::wink::

So we really hope to see you there!! And don't forget your business cards!!!

Song of the Week: "Grenade" - Bruno Mars (trueee storryyy!)

xo, Jessica
