"Your Network Determines YOUR Net Worth"

Video Song: "Tipsy" Webstar ft. Serani & Jadakiss
_______________________________________________________

Hey Guys!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving with the people you love the most! Don't forget to count and appreciate your blessings. We are very thankful for all of our readers!

With Brandy
Now this past week was pretty exciting. I want to say thank you to Shaun Lewis for the exclusive invite to Rocsi Diaz’s birthday bash, which was held at Covet! For those who don’t know, she’s the host of BET’s 106 & Park.

Shaun, is the CFO of Touchtone Ready Music and Indie Records. He is also the market consultant of an eco-friendly clothing line called UM2clothing! I love meeting entrepreneurs and getting their stories. It's so inspirational. Stay tuned for his interview!

With Wyclef
Overall, we had a great time -- the venue gave off a relaxed-hip vibe. There were so many industry people at this party. It was awesome to see artists like Brandy and Wyclef there! Jess and I danced the night away to the beats provided by DJ Prostyle & DJ Brown Hornhit. This was definitely a star studded event! We felt very VIP.

On Friday, Jess and I went to this neat Mixology event that took place at PNC Studios! It was a night that showcased mixologist, Keana "Kit" Prescod‘s drinks. The event inlcuded an UNLIMITED tasting of all her creations. It was pretty cool! We tried four of her signature cocktails and gave our opinions on them. My fave was called “Hot Lips.” It was literally a HOT drink and for those who know me, I’m a big fan of “spicing things” up ;) (lol). This drink is perfect for the holidays!

I want to give a s/o to Angie! - Thanks for the invite girl! Angela is the manager for Front Stage Radio so make sure you tune in, Monday - Friday from 10PM-1AM only on UrbanLatinoRadio.com -- its the most CONTROVERSIAL ONLINE RADIO SHOW out there!!

Yesterday was Sazon’s very first Acoustic Tuesday! I couldn’t stay for the show but from what I heard from sound check, Zeitlin Perez and Art for Money sounded incredible!!! I’m excited to hear the feedback from it… and once I do -- I will let you know.

God bless you all and remember your network can determine your net worth!! So go out there and mingle! Make a name out of yourself!!

With that said...
Us with Rocsi Diaz

Oh nana... What's My Name? -Rihanna (Love her) feat. Drake!! - Song of the week :P

_____________

What's up

This past week was kind of exciting...

Me with DJ Prostyle
Samantha and I kicked it off on Wednesday night at Covet Lounge. Covet Lounge is an ultra sexy, upscale lounge located on on 55th and Lexington.  Covet gives off a very exclusive vibe and hosts a very trendy, fashionable crowd which was perfect for the special celebrity-filled birthday celebration for BET's 106 & Park host, Rocsi Diaz. With an occupation like that, its no surprise that the stars came out to celebrate her 27th birthday!  Samantha and I bumped in recording artists, Brandy, Wale, Wyclef and the Retro Kids as well as actor, Vin Diesel.  DJs - DJ Prostyle and DJ Brown Hornhit played great music and had the crowd hyped. Samantha and I made a few great connects and had an awesome night.

HP: Deathly Hallows
Last weekend, while bored at home ABC Family ran a Harry Potter weekend.  They played all the films, one - six, the entire weekend in anticipation of the upcoming seventh film. The marathon had me super excited (bbm embarrassed face), since I'm kind of a Harry Potter fan (just of the movies though, regrettably I haven't read the books). So this week, I definitely bought tickets to the midnight showing of the film Thursday night/Friday morning (a little corny, I know lol).  Awesome movie!!! The only thing that sucked about the film, was that this is of course only part one...so I left the theater wanting to know the outcome -__-.  SPOILER ALERT!!! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 picks up with Harry, Hermione and Ron racing against the clock to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of horcruxes to defeat the dark lord, Voldemort.  While on this journey, the trio's bonds are tested to their limits and they stumble upon the meaning of the deathly hallows and its importance to Voldemort.  While all this is happening Voldemort is getting significantly stronger and his death-eaters takeover the Ministry of Magic. (bbm "Whew" face).

Keana "Kit" mixing up a "Honey Suckle"
On Friday night, we were here at PNC Studios for Keana "Kit" Prescod's Check My Mixology event. This event was a unique tasting of unlimited cocktails mixed exclusively by Keana, herself.  Each drink was carefully paired with the perfect hors d'oeuvres (courtesy of Confections of a Foodie) to bring out the delicious and distinct flavors of each cocktail.  Not only were there unlimited drinks, but music, art and giveaways representative of each cocktail. Keana started off the night with "Communion," her signature sangria mix. "Communion" contains fruit that has been soaking in blackberry brandy overnight, like still maintaining its original crispness and taste.  The second drink of the night was "Sugar Baby."  "Sugar Baby" is Keana's take on a classic margarita. She actually uses organic brown sugar around the rim of the glass, that gives it a very different sweet taste from other margaritas. Next was Keana's "Hot Lips."  This drink was definitely hot! What was really interesting about that cocktail, was that there were little pepper flakes that heated the apple cider up. Keana ended the night with "Honey Suckle."  In this drink, Keana drizzles honey all over the glass (creating a web-like design in the glass) and then pours in the whiskey (along with a special mix)!

Samantha & I at Covet Lounge
Well that was my week (*shrugs).

I hope everyone has an awesome Thanksgiving!! Be sure to not only spend time with family and friends, but to show your appreciation for them too.

Song of the Week: "Cosmic Love" - Florence & The Machine

xo, Jessica

"Bachateame..."

Video Song: "Wrapped Around My Finger" - Aaron LaFette
________________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys!,

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are having a marvelous week. I’m a little exhausted after last night … I went to this Movie Release party For Burlesque (Starring Christina Aguilera and Cher) at Kiss & Fly! I had an AMAZING TIME!!!  For a Tuesday, the ambiance was EXTREMELY ENERGETIC. It’s the current hot spot for celebrity spottings on Tuesday nights!  (Do you know that Mondays and Tuesdays are the preferred nights for stars to party? Well now you do lol). Everyone was dancing everywhere and on everything, from couches to tables -- it was pretty insane. I find their logo very creative as well!

Behind the DJ booth
I couldn’t stay long because I had a train to catch, but I was lucky enough to hang out behind the DJ booth!  I felt like a Hollywood socialite (hehe)! In addition, I received some advance screening passes for the movie next Monday! I’m looking forward to seeing it, especially since Christina was one of my fave pop stars back in my teenage years along with Britney Spears. But there’s a little dilemma -- I need a date! Since Jess is not so fond of my pop music taste, she doesn’t want to accompany me, any takers?  =/

Oh and thank you Billy Bonds Entertainment  for the invite!

Prince Royce
On Friday November, 12th Jess and I went to see my new young bachatero crush, Prince Royce at Lehman College, thanks to Mr. Ramirez! (Jessica's Daddy) The immense crowd was screaming/shouting/crying for the artist before he even came out, and when he took the stage forget about it -- it was fanatical! He sang about 10 songs including his hits, "Stand by Me" and "Corazón Sin Cara" (LOVE THAT SONG!). His stage presence reminds me of Romeo from Aventura. He actually performed at the Grammy’s the previous night. Geoffrey Royce Rojas (his real name), was born and raised in the BX to Dominican parents. Prince Royce began singing when he was in elementary school and later began writing poetry. At the age of 15, Prince Royce wrote his first song-- And now at 21, his album went platinum and is on a road to success!! Not to mention how HUGE his following is. This kid definitely has talent and we’re thrilled we had a chance to "steal a scene" with him backstage! (You guys, he has the cutest dimple ::sigh:: ) checkout Jess' blog for more details ;)

Next week Tuesday, November 23rd, Sazon is having their very first ACOUSTIC TUESDAY! Checkout the flyer Jess created!

It should be a lovely evening so come through its FREE ! Oh also check out her bio – once again the image was created by Ms. Ramirez and written by me!

Oh and don’t forget to check out Ayari Makeup Tour to get your tickets! Hurry before there aren't anymore. Remember its taking place on December 2nd, 2010 @Pearl Lounge! -- That's only two weeks away!!

Us with Prince Royce
Lastly, even though Thanksgiving is next week, let's not forget to giveback and be grateful for what we have - ALWAYS!

My Song of the Week: "Corazón Sin Cara"  – Prince Royce! (oh his dimples)

Whats up!

We went to the Prince Royce concert this past Friday! (I know a lot of young ladies are hating...sorry lol)  The concert at the Lehman Center of Performing Arts was Royce's debut concert in the United States...I mean where better to kick it off then in his hometown, the Bronx?!  Friday night was the first of two concerts held at the center, both of which were completely sold out (BIG s/o to my Dad for getting us 4 tickets!).

Prince Royce performing
Prince Royce is doing big things since his self-titled debut launched in March.  He was nominated for Best Contemporary Tropical Album at the Latin Grammys (you might have seen him performing his catchy bilingual pop-tinged bachata version of "Stand By Me" with the song's author, R&B legend, Ben E. King. this past Thursday) and has been number one on Billboard's Tropical Album charts.  His single, "Corazón Sin Cara" is hovering amid the top spots of the Tropical/Latin Song charts as well.

So cute! Love his dimples!
Prince Royce, born Geoffrey Royce Rojas was born and raised in the Bronx to Dominican parents. His experience as a performer started in grade school where he starred in various talent shows and plays. He started his career, last year, when he signed on with Top Shop Music Label, by renowned producer Sergio George (who won this year's Producer of the Year at the Latin Grammys and produced for artists like Marc Anthony and Luis Enrique), who only listened to just 3 songs off his demo!

He had the crowd going crazy!
The concert was crazy packed! There were tons of young females...and some males too lol...screaming their hearts out for Royce.  We spent the entire concert on our feet, because everyone was standing on their seats to see Royce perform.  The performance was a little over 90 minutes long and featured various songs from his self-titled debut. I only know his popular singles, "Corazón Sin Cara" and "Stand by Me," but this overall performance was enjoyable. Afterwards, Prince Royce had a special meet-n-greet with his fans that purchased VIP tickets...not only did they meet Royce, but they received a Prince Royce teddy bear, autographed CD and a Prince Royce tote bag.  Samantha and I had the opportunity to meet Prince Royce (thanks to my dad!), before all the mayhem broke lose with the VIP fans.  He even did a nice a little drop for us!

In the middle of Saturday night's performance I heard that his record label surprised Royce with a Platinum Album Award for sales exceeding 100 thousand units in the United States and Puerto Rico, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of Americas.  Pretty impressive!
All in all I had a great time with my linesisters at the concert! Can't wait to see what this week has in-store for Samantha and I!!

Song of the Week: "Crazy" - Prince Royce

Moving forward with finesse...

Video Song: Sexy Bitch - Akon ft. David Guetta
________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hey Guys!,

I'm missing the interview of Don Omar at Sazon today :/... I'm a little bummed about that because he is my fave reggeaton artist. Here at the ULM offices Jess and I are working on executing couple of events, Talentino’s video/single release party, award winning comedian, Ruperto Vanderpool and we are preparing for Acoustic Tuesdays at guess where? …But Sazon of course (trying to keep it in the family).

So, Jess and I had the privilege to attend a couple of neat showcases. We went to see the screening of Pastport Cuba: In Search of Nikolita. It was actually a very touching documentary, I loved it!!! It's a true inspiring story of swimwear designer, Nicole Di Roccio who grew up trying to “fit in” in California. In the process of fitting in she lost her connection to her Cuban heritage. In this documentary she embarks on a journey to reconnect with her culture, in a home left behind by her parents more than 50 years ago.  It was very intriguing to see moments that Si TV was able to capture and bring to the scene. The Search for Nicolita captures her quest to find a model to represent her Cuba-inspired line. Her swimwear is so classy/sexy it gives off the 60’s pin-up girl look. It's very flattering for us curvaceous, bootylicous Latinas! (hehe) I really loved the options she has. I truly enjoyed the VIP screening and felt a connection with Nicole in various ways. It was very emotional to see her journey to Cuba with her family for the very FIRST TIME.  Being born in New Rochelle, I can relate to her in loosing a little bit of my roots, for example speaking Spanish! I DON’T REGRET MUCH IN LIFE, except not learning to speak Spanish because I was trying to fit in :/. However as I got older I‘ve embraced my culture so much more and I’m proud to be COLOMBIAN, it also makes me want to go back to see and learn more about my history. Do you know where you originally come from?

On Monday, November 8th we linked up with the Urban Latino/Radio family at the Hennessy Artistry event that was sponsored by Univision Radio (X96.3 FM). We celebrated at uptown hot spot, called “Vin-Tich”. They had a performance by chart-topping Dominican recording sensation Sensato "Del Patio". You might know him better as the artist of the hit single "Watagatapitusberry"!  Laura Stylez was the host of this event as well! It was dope seeing her again after working with her back when used to host parties at Club Miami on behalf of La Kalle. (Thanks for the shoutout Laura!)

Well that’s about it! For this weeks blog … I’m excited for the upcoming events that are on the way!!! You should be to =)

OMG! I’m SO IN LOVE with this songSure Thing”- Miguel

______

What's up!

So this past week was a tad better than the previous.

On Monday, Samantha and I attended a special VIP screening of Si TV's PASTPORT CUBA: The Search for Nicolita. In this one-hour documentary, Nicole Di Rocco fulfills her life-long dream of traveling to Cuba, the birthplace of her parents, and searches for the perfect fashion model who will embody the essence of her “1950s Cuba-inspired” swimwear collection. It was truly a moving story, especially as you see her parents visit their childhood stomping grounds, that they haven't seen in over 50 years!! It was an emotional journey for all that were involved...I even teared a bit. For Nicole, the journey comes full circle for her, having experienced her heritage first hand, as opposed to through pictures and stories, and being able to bring her new understanding of her culture into her work. (Her line is awesome btw, definitely picking up a Nicolita swimsuit before the summer.) The documentary however, kept it very PC. While emotionally moving, the documentary unfortunately does not give any in-depth explanations about Nicole's parents original exodus from Cuba or their reluctance over returning. There also aren't any discussions about the political, social, or economical climates the country. Overall though, a good story...be sure to check out it out on Si TV, click here for showtimes.

Sunday, I went to William Paterson University to attend a J.Cole and Fabolous concert. J.Cole (who was part of our graduating class at St. John's University) from North Carolina released his debut mixtape, The Come Up, after graduating from St. John's.  Shortly after Jay-Z signed J.Cole (making him the first artist to be signed to Roc Nation) and appeared on Jay-Z's album The Blueprint 3, on the track "A Star Is Born." In early 2010, Cole was chosen as one of Beyond Race Magazine's "50 Emerging Artists," he ranked 49, resulting in the cover story of the publication's #11 issue.  He was also featured in XXL Magazine's 2010 version of Top Ten Freshmen. He's definitely on the come-up, having been featured on Miguel's "All I Want Is You," B.o.B.'s "Gladiators," and Young Chris' "Still the Hottest" (to name a few).  Fabolous rocked the stage with his Brooklyn swagger performing for little over half an hour (smh).  He brought took the audience through a brief timeline of all his work, performing songs from 2003's Street Dreams all the way up to 2010's Loso's Way 2: Rise To Power.

This past Monday, Samantha and I had the opportunity to attend a Hennessy Artistry event - Latino style. Past Hennessy Artistry events have been epic with acts like The Roots, Q-Tip and more. If I'm not mistaken this is the first time that Hennessy has tried to hit the Latino market with an event like this. The theme behind the Hennessy Artistry events is to celebrate "the art of blending."  For this event Hennessy joined forces with x96.3 FM at Vin-Tich Lounge (the name cracks me up lol). DJs - DJ Lobo and DJ Yonny (of 92.3 Now) had the crowd moving, Laura Stylez (who have us a drop!) was the host, Bronx-bred Sensato Del Patio gave a live performance and Hennessy was flowing.  Sensato gave a good performance that was a unique blend of merengue, hip hop, electro pop and dance music.  He also performed his hit single, "Watagatapitusberry." I'd like to s/o Janice Torres (of Social Butterflies at Work), Melissa Sweets (love her, she keeps it real! lol) and the rest of the Urban Latino Radio family for a great time!

As far as the personal situations Samantha and I touched upon last post...its better, not completely resolved but definitely on its way.

Happily ever after is definitely on my agenda...so we'll see how it goes.

Song of the week : "
Lights Please" - J.Cole

The "Creeps" Come Out at Night...SMH

Video Song: I'm Single (DJ G-Wiz Deaf Bootleg Remix) - Lil' Wayne
 _____________________________________________________

Hey Guys!

-_-
The "creeps come out at night”, (::hmph::) they sure do, and I’m not just talking about on Halloween! This week's blog is a little more personal for Jess and I (-_-). I definitely saw someone's true colors this past weekend and I truly don’t understand! I really don’t. I feel like people do so many WRONG things without thinking and when they finally realize what they did was wrong, they either:

a) Try hard to come back & MESS up again

b) Give excuses

c) Run away from the problem or

d) Act like nothing happened

Ugh, I don’t get it!!! Can someone please help me understand? Or are we just wayyy to attached to our emotions?!

Anyhoo...

My career is my main focus at the moment, so when situations like these occur, it gives me more motivation to strive for my dreams without any distractions! Unfortunately, this past week was “non-exciting”, there weren't any events to cover but a lot of office work. I worked on keeping my database updated and becoming "constant contact" swavvy (lol). If any of you are in a promotional/marketing gig I definitely recommend you signup, it's a great way to blast your events/emails!

Chiva
Halloween was "OK" this year. Friday, I went on a Chiva (Colombian party bus) with my ladies!

Chivas are internationally recognized as a symbol of Colombian culture (my heritage). In the 20th century, chivas were used in to transport people and good, but NOW they're for having a good time! It’s crazy how times change, huh?

On Saturday, we went to Beer Garden in Queens...there were a lot of Snookies & Pauly D's (oh yeaaaaa) on sight. Unfortunately, I wasn't really feeling the music (I'm not a techno person). Later, we left and met up with Jess. We went to this hookah lounge on Steinway. We had a very calm night welcoming in Halloween. On Halloween, I went to the parade in the City. The parade was filled with bright, fun, scary looking floats and people. However, I didn’t really see that many creative costumes other than the...again…the “Jersey Shore” characters. I honestly think the costume manufacturers need to change it up a bit for next year.
with Snookie lol

Well I’m sorry that this week wasn’t as interesting as others, but this goes to show that nothing is perfect and it’s ok! Life is all about ups and downs…but one thing that you can count on is that it GOES ON! So I can’t wait to see what’s coming our way!!!

Got your heart racing! ;)

Song of the week: “Happy” - Leona Lewis (Such a beautiful song)

__________

What's Up!

It's been a really slow week...like extremely slow...and boring (**bbm yawn face**).

So my Halloween activities were very low-key compared to past Halloween excursions.  I didn't even purchase a costume this year...I know, I know horrible (lol), but it didn't stop me from being in the Halloween spirit.

Friday night, I went out with my best friend Kristan to see Paranormal Activity 2.  We saw the first one together, so we figured it'd be cool to catch up a bit and see the sequel...well technically the prequel.  I don't really want to give anything away for those who haven't seen it yet, but I might (lol)...so beware as you read!

Paranormal Activity 2 Poster
Paranormal Activity 2 is a little bigger, a little scarier and a little busier than its predecessor...but only it's a tad better.  The film follows a family, after the birth of their son, who after experiencing what they think are "break-ins" set up security cameras around their home.  They later realize that the events taking place in their home are something way more sinister than a robber. Unlike the first, there aren't any exorcisms or medium rendezvous... at least not until the family dog has a seizure and the mother of the household shows up with unexplained bite marks. This all leads up to a rather clever conclusion which not only brings resolution to Paranormal Activity 2 but actually bookends the original, further explaining exactly what happened to the couple, Micah and Katie, and why.

It was slow at times, but it had it moments...I definitely jumped a few times...and possibly even got a little nervous whenever I heard noises at home (lol **bbm can't watch face).  It a fun movie and if you enjoyed the first one...you'll be entertained with this one.

Headless Horseman Hayride & Haunted Houses
Sunday night, I headed up to Ulister Park (part of the historic haunted Hudson Valley) to experience the Headless Horseman Hayride and Haunted Houses.  It's been named the #1 Hayride in America by American Airlines Magazine, as well as the #1 Haunted Attraction in the country by Haunt World Magazine...while also receiving top 10 national rankings from CNBC, AOL, USA Today, Fangoria Magazine and "named #1 on the planet by The New York Daily News." So I was definitely excited!!

The Headless Horseman
The attraction included a mile long hayride, a labyrinth styled corn maze and 5...yes 5...professionally created haunted houses.  I had a great time.  The lines were a little long, but they moved fairly quickly.  The hayride had an interesting storyline (which changes every year) and was had me clenching on to my friend's arm, nervous that something would pop our from behind a tree or prop. The cornfield kept me wondering what was going to happen next...I even had an incident where someone jumped out next to me and caused to me give out a little scream and fall to the ground (lol **bbm embarassed face).  The haunted houses were awesome and had me frightened....yes I am a little scaredy cat (lol). Definitely go check it out next year, you'll have fun...its open on weekends all throughout the month of October (and the last 2 weekends in Sept.) and is only $33 (a great deal for 7 attractions!).

That was my weekend, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves this Halloween!
Dressed a Kitty Kat Saturday night
